Nottingham University hosted the 7th Nottingham after a 22 year break. 42 players took part. Winner was Alex Selby (4 dan Cambridge) despite losing his last game to Sandy Taylor (1 dan Durham).

The BBC2 Newsnight programme on 18th February 2010 used a Go board provided through an enquiry on the Gotalk discussion group as a backdrop to a piece on US-China relations. Reporter Robert Peston (seen below) played stones on the board, which had some illegal positions, as an animation technique and used the game, calling it Wei Qi, as a metaphor for some aspects of the USA-China relationship.

Youth titles at U8, U10, U12, U14, U16 and U18 will be contested, in addition to the titles of overall British Youth Champion and British Schools Team Champions. A mixture of even and handicap games.     Many BGA tournaments are run on the McMahon system, which tries to pair players of equal strength. This relies on players entering the tournament at a realistic grade so that fair games between players can be achieved.

    Trigantius Tournament

    This year Cambridge moved back from March to February and from the hospital to a city centre location. 46 players attend the event at St. Colomba's Church. Romanian 6 dan player Robert Mateescu, now in Cambridge, won the tournament, beating Matthew Macfadyen in the final. Matthew was equal second with Tim Hunt.
