|EYGC Under Way in Bognor!||
The European Youth Go Championship got under way with the Opening Ceremony on the Friday night. The players were called to order by the Arundel town crier and after short speeches they were entertained by Rhubarb the clown. Some players then took part in the British Lightning, others took an early night after long journeys.

|BGA's EYGC Team Spotted Winning Pub Quiz||
When they should have still be hard at work updating the results, counting the money or safely storing the BGA's equipment, the BGA's EYGC team were spotted in an Arundel pub winning a pub quiz. The BGA team scored 31 points out of 60 to win a meal voucher and also £33 in the raffle. A BGA spokesman said "At least they are good at something."

|BGA sets up a Youth Squad||
Following on from the success of the European Youth Go Championship 2014 held in the UK, the British Go Association is forming a youth squad which is aiming to send a UK national team to the 2015 youth championships to be held in the Netherlands.
The Leader of the Youth Squad will be Alison Bexfield, 2 dan.
The youth squad is for any junior who will be under 16 on 31 August 2014 and who has progressed past the beginner stage (40 kyu -31 kyu)...

|New Version of Cartoon Booklet||
The cartoon booklet "Go An Introduction", where the Chess pieces learn to play from the Go stones, has been reissued. The new version uses pass stones at the end of the game just like in the UK Go Challenge and other tournaments. It also corrects the spelling error "altohether"!

|A new Youth Tournament on 8 November 2014||
Our Youth Squad leader Alison Bexfield is running a 6-round rapid-play tournament in Letchworth on Saturday 8th November 2014. There will be two separate junior sections included in this event. The Junior Open is for juniors who are confident players (stronger than 20 kyu) and the novice section is for those newer to the game or who have not achieved success in tournaments to date.

National Youth Squad members will have received invitations to join the junior online club which will meet on Sunday evenings 8:00 - 9:00 pm. This will use a private room on the KGS server. The aim is for junior squad members who live a long way from other players to be able to meet and play with other juniors in a dedicated online club room. I am pleased to announce that the UK is fielding a national youth team in the first European Youth Go Team Tournament (which is being held online for logistical reasons).
