Current List of Officers

Education Officer

The objective of the Education officer is to increase the exposure of Go in schools and other educational facilities.

He establishes and maintains contacts with schools, education authorities and throughout the world of education; he visits schools to give an introduction to Go; and he is available to give advice to other Go players on teaching Go and setting up clubs for youth Go.

Youth Development

The objective of the Youth Development Officer is to ensure that young Go players have as many opportunities as possible to pursue and enjoy their hobby.

He will especially develop further opportunities for young Go players to meet and play in regional and national events and on the internet.

Youth Newsletter

The Youth newsletter editor produces an infrequent youth Go newsletter for distribution to schools, youth Go clubs and individual young Go players.

UK Go Challenge

Organises the annual UK Go Challenge competition for schools.

Child Protection Adviser

As described in the policy on working with children and young people, the Child protection adviser provides advice to members involved in youth go activities. Members may contact the CPA to discuss any situation of concern that may come to their notice.

Geographical Youth Rep

Coordinates contact with schools in a particular area, providing advice and help where needed. There are 11 areas.

Junior Web Site Editor (ex-Officio)

Edits the junior section of the web site, including the lists contained thereon.

Schools Internet Go Server Developer

Develops and maintains the code of the SIG server.

Youth Grand Prix and Database Maintainer

Organises the Youth Grand Prix, maintains the Schools' Database and also finds a host for the annual British Youth Go Championship.
