The entry fee is £5. Registration will be from 9.15am to 9.45am and the first round will commence at 10am. The prize giving will be at approximately 5pm. You should bring a packed lunch with you.
Please note that 25 March is the day the clocks go forward, so please be careful not to be one hour late!
The tournament is open to anyone under 18 on 1st September 2006, or still in full-time secondary education on the day of the tournament. Your age on 31 August 2006 determines your age group for championship purposes. The title of British Champion will be contested in six age-groups (under 18, 16, 14, 12, 10 and 8), as well as the title of overall British Youth Champion. Only British citizens who are members of the BGA or a BGA-affiliated club can win the titles, but anyone else can attend and win other prizes. The titles will be decided by even games on the 19x19 board with 30 minutes time limit, but players who are out of the running will play handicap games, so that everyone has the chance to win a prize.
The tournament aims to include young players of all strengths, and beginners are particularly welcome. If you have only recently learned to play Go, we will ensure that you play others of a similar standard on the 13x13 board.
The school team with the best performance will win the title of British Schools Champions and hold the Castledine Trophy for one year.
