These are things that people sometimes get wrong, and it would be nice if they could get them right.
However, don’t lose too much sleep over them.
- The first two stages of the British Championship are now the “Candidates’ Tournament” and the
“Challengers’ League”. Note the position of the apostrophes. Prior to 2006 the second was
the “Challenger’s League”.
There are many candidates who get to play in the former
and the latter selects two challengers to play for the championship (whereas prior to 2006 just
one challenger was selected who would take on the reigning champion).
