We've just been notified that the 3rd Pandanet Go European Team Championship will start soon, the first rounds to be played in September 2012. The previous two years have been very successful and the finals were hard-fought and exciting. The format will be the same: League games played on the Pandanet IGS and the finals in the EGC 2013 in Olsztyn, Poland.
The official announcement has now been made by the IGF, with the following additional information about the events:
Since we wish to announce our team as soon as possible, to allow for early hotel and travel bookings at favourable rates, please contact Jon Diamond by Wednesday 6th June to register an entry for a specific event or events. Entries received after this date will only be accepted by Council in exceptional circumstances.
Now that the schedule is announced those who have already expressed their interest in participating still need to indicate which events they wish to be considered for.
The latest, still preliminary, information we now have is:
Date: August 13-23 2012 (opening ceremony on August 9)
Venue: Grand Palais Lille, Lille, France
Eligibility: Amateur players nominated by the go organisations to which they belong. Nominations must be submitted to the tournament office by July 30.

The European Go Federation has announced an international team championship, with one team of a maximum of 12 players per country (matches will be 4 boards), to be played on the Internet with the final top 4 countries playing the finals at the European Go Congress in Bordeaux in 2011.
If you're interested in being considered for the British team (you need to be a British citizen) please contact Toby Manning as soon as possible.
It was announced today that initial contracts for the 2nd World Mind Sports Games to be held in Manchester from 12th to 25 August 2012 have now been signed.
It is expected that there will be at least as many Go events as in the 1st WMSG in Beijing in 2008.
It is understood that Poker may be becoming provisional members of the IMSA and participating in these games.
