Triangle 2005: Results
At Hitachi, Maidenhead
The draw was done using a pre-determined grid system. Unfortunately there were not 15 players but 14, so some games were played one-on-one. Otherwise all players played once singly and twice in a pair, each game being with different people. All games were played on handicap based on difference between single’s grade and mean of the pair’s grades (halves rounded stronger).
Round 1
Daniel Debksi (10 kyu) beat Chuweng Teng (30 kyu) and Edwina Lee (4 kyu), giving 13 stones
Jonathan Englefield (8 kyu) and France Ellul (4 kyu) beat Paul Blockley (13 kyu), giving 7 stones
Ed Blockley (2 kyu) beat Xinyi Lu (9 kyu) and David Hall (6 kyu), giving 5 stones
Tony Pitchford (7 kyu) beat Nick Wedd (2 kyu) and Neil Cleverly (8 kyu), taking 2 stones

British Small Board Championship: Results 2004
There were 23 players this year at the Small Board Championships in Cambridge. The tournament, played on 13×13 boards, was again hosted by Cambridge Junior Chess & Go Club and held as part of a Chess and Go event with around 80 competitors in total.
More than a quarter of the players were juniors, and more than a third were double figure kyus. The median grade was 6 kyu.
As usual, the tournament was played in a mixed format. The higher ranked players started off in an even game tournament for the championship; once they were eliminated by losing two games they joined the other players in the handicap section.
The defending champion was Simon Goss 2 dan. The favourite to win was David Ward 4 dan, this year’s challenger for the British Go Championship. However, David lost to Matthew Woodcraft 1 dan in round 4, so another defeat would have eliminated him from the championship.
