British Congress 2022
The 2022 British Go Congress is kindly being hosted by the Lancaster club. Additionally it is being supported by the following sponsors

Car parking is available on site. It is Pay and Display (no more than £5 for a full day), but free after 18:00 and at weekends.
Prizes will be given for 5 and 6 wins, and best performance by a Junior (TD's decision is final). There may also be other surprise categories depending on numbers.
Both are available for booking through the usual online room booking sites. The Reception for the Guest Rooms is not manned on weekends, but University Security perform check-in to get you into your room. More options are available in Lancaster itself, including a Premier Inn on the North side of the town. Please note though that the campus is roughly one hour’s walk or ten minutes drive south from Lancaster itself. There are several buses that operate to the campus BUS DETAILS - but please be aware we will be outside of term time, and services on Sunday may well be more limited. Taxi ranks are available at both Lancaster Bus and Rail stations.
19:00 - Round 1 starts
The remainder of the timings will be available on the night. As we have to clear the room by 22:00 the event will be timed to finish by 21:45.
10:00-12:45 - British Open Round 1
13:30-16:00 - British Open Round 2
16:30-19:00 - British Open Round 3
19:45 - Evening Meal
As demand for a group evening meal is low we will facilitate a 'sign-up' sheet on the Saturday to allow those who want to eat together to contact each other. No formal group meal will be booked in advance.
12:45-15:15 - British Open Round 5
15:45-18:15 - British Open Round 6
18:30 - Closing Ceremony
No formal dinner is being arranged, but we will facilitate a sign-up sheet on the day for those who want to look for dining companions.
Two sets of Tsume-Go problems have been collated, one for 1-9 kyu players, one for 10 kyu and above. these will be available on the Saturday from about lunchtime. Answers will be available from Sunday lunchtime. There are no prizes, but it is hoped that you will enjoy working them out. Talking your thoughts through with stronger players is a good way to get feedback and discover the options you may not have thought about.
There will be an informal self-paired small board competition running alongside the Open on the Saturday and Sunday. Prizes will be at the TD's discretion, depending on take-up

British Open - £20
British Lightning - £5
For both the above entrants under 18 receive a 50% discount, students a 20% discount. Players who only wish to play on one day will be charged 50%.
Non-BGA Member surcharge - £5 (does not apply if you are a member of your own national association)
Late entry Fee - £5 (for entries received after 2nd April)
Evening Meal on Saturday 9th - Price to be confirmed

Tournament Details
1. British Lightning
This will be on the evening of Friday 8th. The exact format will depend on the entry numbers, but will probably consist of 3-4 matches followed by a semi-final and final. Time Limits will be 12 minutes sudden death.2. British Open
This will be a 6-round McMahon Tournament with 3 games on each of the Saturday and Sunday. Time Limits: Fischer Time of 45 minutes (basic) plus 15 seconds/move. This makes it a class 'A' event for EGD ratings.Prizes will be given for 5 and 6 wins, and best performance by a Junior (TD's decision is final). - The cheaper option is UNIVERSITY GUEST ROOMS

Food and drinks are available from various outlets on the campus. As it is a weekend outside term-time they may not all be open. Some information can be found HERE. There is a bar in the Lancaster House Hotel, as well as other bar facilities on campus. We expect to be able to provide basic tea, coffee, and biscuits.Timetable
