Title Match
Matthew Macfadyen retained the Title by defeating the Challenger, Des Cann, 3-0 in the best-of-5 games match.
The first game of the Title Match took place in Oxford on Saturday 9th July. Matthew Macfadyen won by Resignation.
The second game was played at Epsom on Saturday 13th August in the Ebbisham Centre, with the support of
Forbidden Technologies.
It coincided with the Epsom Go Tournament.
The third game was played on 25th September at the Open University in Milton Keynes, alongside the Milton Keynes Go Tournament.
All three games were relayed on the KGS Internet Go Server. The first game had a commentary by Li Yue (profesional 1 dan) and by Ron Polak (amateur 5 dan). The second and third games were commented by Li Ang (Chinese professional 3 dan).
Challenger's League
The Challenger's League took place in Trinity Junior Parlour, Cambridge over the weekend 29th April to 2nd May. There were 2 games on each of the Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, with one game on the Monday morning.
The 5 qualifiers from the Candidates' Tournament joined David Ward, Matthew Cocke and Alex Rix who qualified from the previous year's Challenger's League.
Des Cann won all of his games to become this year's Challenger. T Mark Hall and Matthew Cocke will join the loser of the Title match in the 2006 Challenger's League, subject to the rules not being changed.

Candidates' Tournament
The 2005 Candidates' Tournament took place in Leamington Spa over the weekend of 20th and 21st March.
Here is a list of all those who qualified; it may include people who did not satisfy the Eligibility Rules.
Of those players who qualified seventeen took part; in addition Harry Fearnley (2 dan, Oxford) was invited to ensure an even number of players.
Qualification for the Candidates' Tournament was based on their performance in tournaments played during 2004.

Jon Diamond, Kirohiko Tanaka (both with 4/4), Alistair Wall, Mark Hall, and Des Cann (by tie-break from Alex Selby) qualified for the Challenger's League.
