New British Go Champion - Andrew Kay
After a second exciting game - taking 6hr20mins, mostly of Nick Krempel's thinking - Andrew Kay has prevailed for a second game in the British Go Championship Title Match and emerges as the 2012 British Go Champion. Many congratulations to him, and to Nick on coming in second for a second year running.
We owe our thanks to Epsom Go Club who lent kit for this second title match, and Nick Krempel whose equipment was used in the first game; to Maria Tabor and me for refereeing/relaying, and to Francis Roads, Nick Wedd and Alex Rix for offering to referee if needed. Thanks are also due to Alexander Dinerchtein for his live audio review of the first game, and for sending an SGF review which will be on the BGA website soon, and to Vanessa Wong for offering to review today's game and for contributing comments in a complex manner when technology let us down - and, indeed, to an array of strong players on KGS who took up the baton of providing useful kibitz when Vanessa's connection died entirely!
The John Barrs Goban, which is the Trophy for the British Go Championship, will be formally presented to Andrew at a forthcoming tournament to be arranged when transport details have been worked out!
Thanks to everyone who's taken part (whether playing or assisting) in the Championship, and congratulations again to Andrew Kay, the new British Go Champion,
Jenny Radcliffe and Maria Tabor
