Chenghang Liu Wins First UK Tournament
The Cheshire, which had been postponed from March because of a train strike, took place on Saturday 1st July at Frodsham Community Centre. North-west clubs were well represented: Liverpool club provided five of the 32 players, Manchester eight players, Lancaster four players and Chester four players.
Liverpool player Chenghang Liu (5d) was the winner, his first win at a UK tournament, beating Zhuopeng Yu (3d, UCL) in the decisive third round. He is shown here with Organiser Pat Ridley. Chenghang Liu and the four other players with three out of three wins received vouchers from tournament sponsors Go Magic, as well as the customary choice of wine or chocolates. They were Alvina Kwok (1d, London), Peter Newsome (12k, Manchester), Elliot Barlow (15k, Cheadle Hulme School) and eight-year old Clinton Yu (19k, Manchester). Results
