UK Beat Serbia
The seventh match of the B-League season, on 18th March, was against Serbia. There were wins by resignation for Jake Game, Ryan Zhang and Bruno Poltronieri, but Scott Cobbold lost by 3.5. This win left the team safely mid table. Round 8 will be on 15th April gainst Finland.
Scott Cobbold wrote about his game against Milos Bojanic, the last to finish: After playing some suspicious sequences in the bottom right corner I gained the advantage by turning some dead stones into a ko for his and my stones. However, subsequently I made some simple mistakes, gradually losing my advantage, and ended up losing by 3.5 points.
Jake Game wrote about his game against Dragan Dubakovic: My game should have been a lost one but sadly for my opponent they blundered a kill. After that somehow Black had more points so I was very very lucky indeed.
Bruno Poltronieri wrote: I won my game against Misa Alimpic by resignation. The opening was very reasonable for both until my opponent let me off slightly too easily in the bottom right corner. I had a decent territorial lead after taking another corner but decided to start a centre fight, which probably wasn't necessary. The fight did go well for me and led to a kill. Under time pressure my opponent blundered and effectively died in gote and resigned.
Ryan Zhang's game against Vuk Dusanic ended in resignation after Ryan's opponent died at the top and failed to kill Ryan's group on the left.
