London Open 2007 Gallery

These pictures give you some idea of what it was like at the 2007 London Open. Not shown is the extensive bookshop and the convenient Bistro in the premises where you could get a good meal at meal times and refreshments throughout the day.

In the beginning, Go is a calm, peaceful, and enlightened game. All the top games are played in the Portland room. Later the going gets tough, and teacher Guo Juan in the Portland room is wondering how to explain ... Twelve pairs competed in the popular Pairgo side event run by Nick Wedd in the Theatre.

Guo Juan teaching one to one in the Nash room. Many players are accommodated for the seven round London open in the Theatre. Afterwards we go to the Nash room to try to record the moves so that Guo Juan can comment the game.

Julio Martinez 4k Spain is hugely pleased to beat Ting Li 6d China in the arduous London Open lightning tournament. Guo Juan lectures us on the winner's final game. There were 100 people present at the closing ceremony in the Gulbenkian. Finally the winner Ouyang Shaoyou gets to hold his cup for a while. He takes a London Open trophy and of course the Pandanet cash prize home with him.

Finale

After the closing ceremony we re-arranged the seating for some Rengo in the afternoon. Then over 30 of us walked to a meal at a nearby Indian restaurant, and finally back to ISH for fun games and New Years Eve celebrations!
