Manchester Summer
Event in Manchester
- 2018 Alistair Wall
3-round McMahon tournament. 40 minutes time limit, then accelerating overtime of 20 stones in 5 minutes, increasing by 20 stones each period (so, 20 in 5 mins, then 40, 60, 80 and so on).
Komi is 7 stones, so drawn games are allowed. Prizes for 2.5 or 3 wins. Inaugural event in 2018. Not held in 2019/2020.
It's called 'Manchester Summer' as it's deliberately held in the Summer Term,
so that N-W students have a local tournament that they can attend, that term.
Free coffee, tea and biscuits.
Bringing a packed lunch would be best. There are local shops, but the nominal lunch-period is just 40 minutes (much less if 2 long-thinkers play each other).
