Event was a seeded knockout, with rounds played at the players' convenience once a month from February to October with a final on 4th December.

Prizes were awarded to the top player in eight divisions (4d-1d, 1k-3k, 4k-6k, 6k-9k, 10k-12k, 13k-18k, 17k-20k, 21k-26k).

This was the first Cambridge Go Tournament - nowadays known as the Trigantius - and was played in the Wordsworth Room in St. John's College. Entry fee was 30p (club members 10p).
