Leo Phillips Isle Of Man Go Festival

Sunday 11th - Friday 16th August. St Catherine's Church Hall, Church Road, Port Erin, Isle of Man IM9 6AE. The 14th Go Festival run in memory of Leo Phillips, has two main events with generous time limits, and a number of side events, all taking place over a period of 6 days. One day is free for island walk-about followed by a popular quiz in the evening. It is a very family friendly Go festival, and full details are available in the link below. You will find an entry form in the IOM web pages as well as a list of currently entered players. Finally, it is most important that you arrange your accommodation as soon as possible as the IOM gets very busy with the Motorcycle Grand Prix taking place soon after the tournament.

Saturday 2nd November - Sunday 3rd November. *** PLEASE NOTE CHANGE OF VENUE *** Mealbank Hall, Mealbank Quarry, Oddie's Lane, Ingleton, LA6 3ER, a very posh Scout Hut. This is situated between the two rivers which make up the "Waterfall Walk". Although the Hall is on Oddies Lane it is not easily spotted from the lane; drive about 100-200 yards up the lane looking for the first short single track off shoot on the right. There is no sign at the entrance. Fifty yards and you are there. 5-round McMahon tournament. Time limits by Fischer Time (equivalent of an hour). Registration by 10:45 Saturday. British Youth Go Championship

Saturday 30th November. Brownsover Hall, Old Brownsover, Rugby CV21 1HU. Youth titles at U8, U10, U12, U14, U16 and U18 will be contested, on 19x19 boards, in addition to the titles of overall British Youth Champion and British Schools Team Champions. Modified McMahon system will be used. Beginners and those new to the game will be made particularly welcome, and can select to play most of their games on 13x13 boards. Non-British residents also welcome, but some may not be eligible for titles. Entry fee of £15 includes lunch and must also be paid by accompanying adults. Registration by 09:45.
