Apart from the first year, which was 3 rounds on one day, up until 2014 this was a 5-round McMahon tournament held over a weekend in June. From 2015 it has had 6 rounds.
Entries are typically welcomed for a single day or both days, and players welcome to miss a round. Registration is usually by 10:45 on Saturday, with prize-giving by 6:00 on Sunday.
2020 was to have been 20-21 June and 2021 26-27 June, but both cancelled. 2022 went ahead on 25-26 June at Min-Y-Mor Hotel.
From 2023 “new" venue: Dragon Theatre, Jubilee Road, Barmouth, LL42 1EF. Situated in the centre of Barmouth, 5 minutes walk from the train station. 2024 was 29-30 June. 2025 was 28-29 June.
